Don’t know where or how to start a tatreez project? No worries! All you’ll need is listed below. Our recommendations for a beginner are:

  • 10, 12, or 14 count Aida Cloth
  • Pearl Cotton Thread Balls, size 8
  • Tapestry needles, size 22
  • Embroidery scissors
  • (Optional) An leather thimble
  • A tatreez design of your choosing! If you don’t have a design in mind, lucky for you we have a free motif archive below to browse and help you get started!

All materials can be easily picked up from local stores like Joann or Micheals. If you don’t find what you need there, you can also try the DMC website or yarntree.com.

Motif Archive

All designs are created by Badan, and are open to the community for use.

This design incorporates Arabic calligraphy that translates to "Soul of The Soul." The motifs on the sides are flower motifs originating from the Hebron area.
